Markets and prices

The same product does not earn the same everywhere

Profit split by country and by market, the ability to publish or withdraw a product per market, and price changes that keep a record of the numbers they started from.

What you get

Each of these is behaviour the product has today.

  • Profit by country and by market

Shipping, duties, returns and competition differ by market, and so does the profit on an identical product. The breakdown is the same arithmetic as the main dashboard, one level down.

  • Publish where it belongs

Publish or withdraw a product per market, from the same place you can see whether that market is paying for it.

  • Two ways to change a price

Override the price for one variant in one market’s price list, or change the base price. Both go to Shopify; neither touches anything else.

  • A snapshot with every change

Every price change stores the ad spend, revenue, net profit, cost of goods, gross margin, ROAS, POAS, units and exchange rate of the 30 days before it. Weeks later you can judge the experiment against the figures it actually started from instead of remembering them.

  • Honest about what Shopify confirmed

Writes are asynchronous. The interface shows a change as applying, then as applied or failed — and where Shopify never confirms, it says the outcome is unknown and tells you to check the store rather than retrying blindly.

How it works

  1. Markets, regions, currencies and price lists are read from Shopify on each sync.
  2. A publication or price change is queued rather than written inline.
  3. Opteno snapshots the product’s last 30 days at the moment the change is made.
  4. A worker performs the write against Shopify and records the outcome.
  5. The result — applied, failed, or unconfirmed — is shown against the change.

What it does not do

Written down so you can decide with the limits in front of you rather than after you have connected.

  • Markets themselves are read from Shopify and are not edited in Opteno; create and configure them there.
  • Price changes need the Shopify scopes that permit them; without those, Opteno says so up front.
  • A snapshot is a record, not a controlled experiment: it does not prove the price change caused what followed.

  • Automations

Profit rules that run on a schedule and prepare the changes they imply — then stop, because anything that touches your store waits for a person to approve it.
