See what the dashboard actually shows you

The screen below is Opteno’s product performance view, drawn with example figures rather than a customer’s data. Every number in it is computed with the formulas the product uses, so it cannot show arithmetic the app would not.

Example figures, not a customer’s data. The account totals look healthy — 4.42× ROAS, +€4,950 kept — while 3 of the 5 products lose money.

What the example shows

  1. Step 1: The account totals look fine

Revenue against spend gives a healthy blended ROAS, and the account is profitable overall. This is the number most dashboards stop at, and it is the reason a problem can run for months.

  2. Step 2: Then cost of goods comes off

POAS divides what is left after cost of goods by the same ad spend. Its break-even is 1.00×. The account total stays above it — which is exactly why the average is not the answer.

  3. Step 3: The product level disagrees with the account

Three of the five products are below their break-even and are being funded by the other two. Two of those three have a perfectly respectable ROAS, which is how they went unnoticed.

  4. Step 4: Open a row and it keeps going

The same arithmetic is available per variant, per country and per Shopify market, over rolling 7, 14 and 30-day windows.

  5. Step 5: Then you can act on it

Draft the product in Shopify, or exclude its offers from the Performance Max asset groups they sit in — planned, previewed against Google, and applied only once a person approves.
