Comparison
Opteno vs TrueProfit: Google Ads product profit vs multi-channel net profit
TrueProfit is a multi-channel net-profit analytics app for Shopify, priced by monthly order volume from $35 a month, that syncs ad spend from Facebook, Google, TikTok, Microsoft (Bing), Pinterest, Snapchat, Amazon and X (Twitter). Opteno covers only Google Ads Shopping and Performance Max: it reports profit per product, with variant, country and market breakdowns, from Google’s spend per product offer, and after a person approves, can exclude losing offers from Performance Max asset groups, from $14.99 per store per month. If much of your ad spend is outside Google, TrueProfit is the closer fit; if it is mostly Google Shopping and Performance Max, Opteno is built for that one job.

Scope: what each one counts
TrueProfit sets out to count every store cost (its listing says “Auto-track all costs”) across many ad channels; Opteno counts each product’s Google Ads spend against its Shopify revenue, cost of goods and refunds, and stops there.
TrueProfit’s App Store listing says it auto-tracks “COGS, shipping cost, transaction fee, taxes, custom costs”. Its plans add a P&L report, customer lifetime value, marketing attribution, shipping-platform integrations and a free iOS and Android app.
Opteno reports ad spend, revenue, cost of goods, refunds, ROAS, POAS, gross margin and net profit on one row per product, over rolling 7, 14, 30 and 60-day windows, split by variant, country and market. Spend it cannot tie to a product is shown as unattributed. It does not attempt a whole-store P&L.
POAS (profit on ad spend) is what a sale leaves after cost of goods and refunds, divided by the ad spend that bought it; break-even is 1.00×. Example figures: $1,000 revenue, $80 refunded, $420 cost of goods, $300 Google Ads spend. Opteno takes refunds off revenue before ROAS as well, so ROAS is (1,000 − 80) ÷ 300 = 3.07×. POAS is (1,000 − 80 − 420) ÷ 300 = 1.67×, leaving $500 − $300 = $200 after ad spend.
Expect the same product’s net profit to differ between the two: they assign ad spend to products differently, and TrueProfit’s net profit also counts costs such as shipping, transaction fees, taxes and custom costs, which Opteno’s does not.
Pricing: order volume versus store count
TrueProfit’s monthly bill rises with your order count; Opteno’s subscription rises only with the number of stores you connect. Opteno also sells optional one-time extras: date comparison ($24.99 or $39.99 per store) and product-import credit packs from $24.99.
TrueProfit: Basic $35 (300 orders), Advanced $60 (600), Ultimate $100 (1,500), Enterprise $200 (3,500). Extra orders cost $0.30, $0.20, $0.10 or $0.07, up to a maximum surcharge of $300, $500, $700 or $1,000. Each store needs its own plan; there is no yearly plan, and TrueProfit offers a special discount above five stores.
Opteno: one store is $14.99; a second moves both to $11.99 ($23.98); a third moves all to $9.99 ($29.97), and further stores stay at $9.99. There is no annual plan.
Step 1: Example: one store, 500 orders a month
TrueProfit Basic: $35 + 200 × $0.30 = $95, so Advanced at $60 is cheaper and adds Product Analytics. Opteno: $14.99.
Step 2: Example: one store, 1,200 orders a month
TrueProfit Basic: $35 + 900 × $0.30 = $305. Advanced: $60 + 600 × $0.20 = $180. Ultimate: $100. Opteno: $14.99.
Step 3: Example: three stores, 500 orders each
TrueProfit: 3 × $60 = $180 on Advanced. Opteno: 3 × $9.99 = $29.97.
Not a like-for-like price
TrueProfit’s price buys multi-channel ad spend, shipping and fee costs and lifetime value, with the P&L report and Product Analytics from Advanced ($60). Opteno’s buys Google Ads product profit, Performance Max exclusions, automations, competitor tracking and market price changes. Compare each bill against the job you need done.
Free trials: 14 days versus 7 days with a card
TrueProfit offers the longer trial; Opteno’s is shorter and needs a card.
TrueProfit lists a 14-day free trial on every plan.
Opteno asks for no payment details to create an account or connect Shopify. The free trial lasts 7 days and starts when you subscribe to Google Ads sync. A card is required: Stripe charges nothing during the trial, then bills monthly from day 8 unless you cancel first. One free trial per workspace. The first sync backfills your recent history.
Acting on the numbers
Opteno can take a losing product out of Performance Max asset groups after approval; none of the TrueProfit pages read for this comparison describes excluding products or editing campaigns from inside TrueProfit.
TrueProfit says its net-profit focus helps you “scale your most profitable campaigns effectively, right down to the ad level”, and its MCP offers ad spend diagnosis. Its Ad Sync Custom Rules (Ultimate and Enterprise) “include or exclude the exact ad campaigns to get the correct ad spend for your store”: a filter on what is counted.
Opteno’s one write in Google Ads is excluding or including a product offer in a Performance Max asset group:
Step 1: Select
Pick losing products in the dashboard, or let an automation propose them.
Step 2: Plan
Opteno plans the listing-group change per offer, per asset group.
Step 3: Dry run
Google validates it without applying; you see which offers change, which do not, and which are blocked and why.
Step 4: Approve
A person approves, then it applies, with each offer’s outcome recorded. It is reversible.
What Opteno never touches
Budgets, bids and campaign status. It cannot pause a campaign, and it only reports on Standard Shopping.
AI access: two MCP servers, one public API
Both connect to AI assistants over MCP; Opteno also publishes a REST API.
TrueProfit MCP launched on 31 March 2026, per TrueProfit’s changelog. It supports ChatGPT Plus and above, Claude and OpenClaw, needs Owner-level access, and can answer across connected stores and by ad platform. Its pricing table lists MCP under Enterprise ($200), while its MCP page names only Owner access, so confirm plan eligibility with TrueProfit. The pages read do not mention a public API.
Opteno’s MCP server, https://mcp.opteno.app/mcp, has twelve tools: store summaries, product and variant performance, comparisons, scale-watch-kill recommendations, tags and dashboard filters. It connects by OAuth or a workspace API key scoped to the stores you grant, and can only write tags and dashboard filters. The REST API at https://api.opteno.app/api/v1 returns stores and per-product performance. Answers cover Google Ads Shopping and Performance Max spend joined to Shopify orders, costs and refunds; no other ad channel.
Which one fits which store
Choose by where your ad money goes.
TrueProfit fits better if…
You spend on Meta, TikTok, Microsoft (Bing), Pinterest, Snapchat, Amazon or X as well as Google; you want a whole-store P&L with shipping, fees and lifetime value; or you want a 14-day trial.
Opteno fits better if…
Most of your spend is Google Shopping and Performance Max; you want profit per product inside Performance Max and a way to exclude the losers after approval; or you run several stores and want a price set by store count, not orders.
Questions
Does TrueProfit show Google Performance Max profit per product?
TrueProfit syncs Google ad spend and says it can “precisely calculate costs at the product level, even tricky costs like ad spend”, using first-party data and unique URL parameters; the pages read do not describe a Performance Max-specific product report. Opteno reads Performance Max spend per product offer, as Google reports it.
Is Opteno cheaper than TrueProfit?
At published prices, yes: $14.99 a month for one store, against $35 for TrueProfit Basic or $60 for Advanced, its first plan with Product Analytics. Opteno’s subscription does not rise with orders; its optional one-time extras (date comparison and product-import credit packs) are charged separately. It also covers far less: Google Ads only.
Does Opteno support Meta, TikTok or Amazon ads?
No. Opteno covers Google Ads Shopping and Performance Max and nothing else. If most of your spend is on Meta or TikTok, TrueProfit is the better fit.
Can I use Opteno and TrueProfit together?
Yes: TrueProfit for the whole-store P&L, Opteno for per-product Google decisions and exclusions. Opteno adds no script or pixel to your storefront. Expect different net profit figures, because the two subtract different costs.
Will either tool change my Google Ads campaigns on its own?
Opteno never does: every exclusion waits for a person’s approval, and it cannot touch budgets, bids or campaign status. The TrueProfit pages read describe no campaign changes from inside TrueProfit.
